The Canadian Union of Postal Workers applauds the federal New Democratic Party’s plans for a greener Canada Post, as we need concrete solutions to the biggest fight of our lifetime.

For many years, we have advocated that Canada Post can and should play a key role in addressing its own ecological footprint and leading the way for the large-scale changes required. Our Delivering Community Power campaign outlines how we can make this happen: a made-in-Canada electric fleet, electric vehicle charging stations at post offices across the country, and retrofitting public buildings to make them greener.

The post office of the 21st century can meet Canadians’ changing needs while leading the transition to a greener infrastructure.

The federal NDP has taken a great step today. Other parties should follow suit, and we will urging them to do so. For the sake of our future, we can’t afford not to.”
