YouTube Videos: Dear Post Office Review

Have your say on the future of the post office. CUPW is asking members, locals and the public to volunteer to make short YouTube videos answering the question: “What does your post office mean to you?” This is part of the union’s organizing around the strategic review of Canada Post.

 

What’s the strategic review of Canada Post?

The government’s review will look at basic questions that will affect the future of our public post office. It has ruled out privatization, but not deregulation of Canada Post.

Even though the government’s strategic review could change the very nature of our postal system, there are no plans for public hearings.

Well, we want an open, public and participatory review of our post office. That’s why we’re asking our members and the public to make videos telling the government and the strategic review, “Hands off our post office!”

 

What kind of video?

It would be great if we had a consistent format for our YouTube videos so we’re asking people to:

• Hold a big letter addressed to Prime Minister Stephen Harper c/o Canada Post Corporation Strategic Review;
• Begin by saying – “Dear Post Office Review”;
• Tell the review panel what postal service means to them – see suggestions for what to say on the bulletin: “YouTube Videos: How to Make One”;
• Finish with “Sincerely, (name, city, province).

 

Who will be making videos?

If you like making short videos, please consider volunteering to make a YouTube video around the strategic review. If you know Sisters or Brothers in your local or friends and family members who make videos, consider asking them to help you say your piece.

If you would like your video to be considered for our Strategic Review section on YouTube, please send an email to: video@cupw-sttp.org and include the exact URL to your video. Use the term “Strategic Review Video” in your subject line. With the video creator’s permission, CUPW will send the videos to the strategic review panel before September 2^nd, the deadline for making submissions to the review. If you’d like your video sent to the review panel, please send us the link to the video before August 18.
