Petition to the House of Commons - Public Post Offices, not Franchises

Your Public Post Office Delivers Campaign / Petition

Please send the petition with original signatures to the CUPW National Office as per the address at the bottom of the petition. DO NOT RETURN BY FAX.

WHEREAS Canada Post is opening privately-run post offices or franchises instead of public post offices run by Canada Post.

WHEREAS public post offices play a key role in our social and economic life by providing the stable infrastructure that healthy communities need to thrive and businesses need to grow.

WHEREAS a private post office or franchise's main goal is to make a profit, not provide a public service.

WHEREAS a privately-run post office can close quickly when a private operator is not happy or not making enough money.

WHEREAS it is difficult for Canada Post to be as accountable as it should be when it transfers its operations to the private sector.

We call on the Government of Canada to instruct Canada Post to keep and expand public post offices instead of opening privately run offices or franchises.
