Petition to the House of Commons - Door-to-Door Delivery, not CMBs

Your Public Post Office Delivers Campaign / Petition

Please send the petition with original signatures to the CUPW National Office as per the address at the bottom of the petition. DO NOT RETURN BY FAX.

WHEREAS Canada Post is switching residents from door-to-door mail delivery to community mailbox delivery.

WHEREAS residents who are being switched to community mailboxes have been told that these boxes are less susceptible to vandalism and theft than home mailboxes.

WHEREAS community mailboxes are no safer than regular mail boxes and have additional problems in terms of accessibility, litter, snow build-up and the environment.

WHEREAS Canada Post prefers to deliver mail to community mailboxes because it costs less, even though it makes millions of dollars each year that could be invested in maintaining and extending door-to-door delivery.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Government of Canada ensure that our public post office is not scaring people into accepting community mailboxes and that it continues to provide door-to-door delivery to residents.
