Dear Ms. Greene:

Re: Moratorium and Retail Network

The federal government recently announced that the moratorium on post office closures in rural and small towns would continue. The moratorium announced in 1994 covered 364 offices staffed by members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and 3603 offices staffed by members of the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association. I would like to request an updated list of post offices covered by the moratorium.

As you know, post offices/outlets covered by the moratorium have been closed. I would like to know how this happened. What process does the corporation use when making a decision to keep or close an outlet covered by the moratorium? I would also like to know what process the corporation uses for outlets that are not covered by the moratorium.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours truly,

Deborah Bourque
National President
