Christiane Gagnon condemns loss of 300 jobs in Quebec City

Campaign Against Quebec City Plant Closure / Blog

Christiane Gagnon, Bloc Quebecois MP for Quebec City, denounced the closure of the Quebec City mail processing plant. Excerpts from her communiqué follow:

"The closing of the Quebec City's Mail Processing Plant is a harsh blow to the region and I will certainly look into this matter to ensure the decision is reviewed," states Christian Gagnon, federal MP for Quebec City, following the announcement by Canada Post this morning."

"Closing the mail sorting centre in Quebec City and transferring operations to Montreal by September 2007 will cause the region to eventually lose 300 well-paid jobs, along with all of the attendant economic consequences. Therefore, I call on social, political, and economic stakeholders to take action to ensure Canada Post reconsiders its decision and keeps the 300 mail processing jobs in Quebec City," the MP went on to say.
